Question to those who work in casinos... are casino employees frequent gamblers themselves?
Hello, I have some interest working in a casino. I am not a gambler and DO NOT intend to be. Therefore my question is if you are or know someone working in the casino industry, based on your/their experiences would you suggest that the employees of casinos are habitual gamblers? the last thing I want to be is a chronic gambler. your thoughtful responses will be appreciated. thank you
i used to work in a casino. there are a few co-workers that did have a gambling problem because they thought they knew the "system". these were mostly the dealers. for the most part though, it's like any other job. you're in a casino 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, you don't want to spend your free time in one either. i worked in the cage and saw the dangers of gambling. there were some people with some really nasty habits and in serious financial trouble (including some very famous people). i didn't want to become one of those people. even though i don't work for the casino anymore, i still don't gamble. i have better things to spend my hard earned money on!
if you have a real desire for casino work, go for it! i loved my job but got a much better job offer that i couldn't pass up.
